Water Missions International provides clean, safe water to people in developing countries and disaster areas through a variety of technologies. WMI also helps to raise awareness about the water crisis by organizing and participating in advocacy events throughout the year.
Community Development
WMI's community development programs provide clean water for rural villages, schools, hospitals, and orphanages in developing countries. The impact of these programs on people's lives can be tremendous: dramatic reductions in disease, improvements in health and productivity, and a new feeling of hope for the future.
Disaster Relief
WMI has provided emergency assistance since 1998, when Hurricane Mitch struck Honduras. Most recently, WMI worked on the U.S. Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina and in South Asia after the tsunami.
Advocacy
Even though one out of every six people on earth does not have access to safe water, many people in the U.S. and other developed nations remain unaware of the world water crisis. WMI's advocacy activities seek to educate people on the problem and engage them in creating solutions.
Engineering Solutions
Engineering is the heart of WMI's work. WMI has developed two different water treatment systems: the Living WaterT Treatment System for sustainable community development and the Rapid Response Water Treatment System for disaster relief. When other types of safe-water technologies are called for, WMI's engineers can custom design the appropriate solution.
