More than two months after the natural disasters that struck Myanmar and China, survivors are still picking up the pieces. Although great progress has been made through relief efforts, there is still an overwhelming need for safe, clean drinking water. Because of your prayers and support, Water Missions International is providing people in need with life-saving water and restoring their hope for a better future.
How Water Missions International is Responding…
After much prayer, patience and determination, Water Missions International has successfully installed the first of 12 water purification systems in cyclone-stricken Myanmar. The water system was installed Tuesday, July 8, in the township of Maubin, a community within the heavily-populated Irrawaddy Delta region in Southwest Myanmar. Two staff members from WMI’s Indonesian office are on the ground in Yangon working with the Burmese government and ministry partners to coordinate site selections and installations for the remaining 11 water systems.
More than 35,000 earthquake survivors in China now have safe, clean drinking water thanks to ten new water purification systems in Luoshui, Lungju, Yinghua, Guangji, Yuquan, Zundao, Longshui and Juyang. We give praise to the Lord for this incredible victory and the opportunity to share the message of Christ through our efforts. The remaining two water systems will be installed throughout the Sichuan province to aid thousands more in the next two to three weeks.
The people of Myanmar and China, as well as the 1.1 billion people around the world who lack access to safe water, desperately need our prayers and support. Together we can provide them hope for a better future.
